What sticks around in your memory after the wedding day is a mix of the grand moments and unplanned snippets. Yes, it’s the moment you see each other for the first time, the moment you’re announced officially married, but also–it’s peeking out of the bridal suite to see your dad for the first time. It’s the wind catching your veil during the ceremony, causing you to ditch it with a laugh. It’s the view you have of your family at the next table during dinner, glowing in the setting sunlight as it dances through the trees. And so many other moments, all meaningful–some planned and some spontaneous–dotting the timeline of your wedding until the stars come out and it's time to say goodnight.
It goes by fast, as all the best things do, so my only hope is that you’re able to stay present. That you’re able to soak in each moment and then, when the day is done and finally, your wedding gallery is delivered, you see the constellations created by each little moment of your day, laid out as if on a map that can take you right back.

HI, I’M MAE.
I am an observer. As both a photographer and a writer, I aim to pay attention, to see the importance in both the mundane and magic moments.
I have been photographing weddings since 2009, and accept 15 weddings a year. I photograph weddings all over the Michigan and the Midwest, but my home base is Leelanau County, just outside of Traverse City. This region of rolling hills, vineyards, and shoreline carries a certain magic to it, and I love telling the stories of folks who choose to get married here.
